Ending Colon Cancer

Some of you may know that I do a weekly program on WMHT ( Tuesday night's at 7:30pm). It gives me a chance to delve more deeply into topics viewers ask about. Our most recent program was on COLON CANCER.
Since the push has been on for people age 50 to 'treat' themselves to a colonoscopy the death rate from that disease has been dropping.
Caught early, colon -rectal cancer is very treatable. But you've got to find the polyps before they've become cancerous and had a chance to spread.
Now, based on what one of the doctors explained during the program, the age for screening may be dropped for African Americans to 45 as they have the highest incidence of this disease.
Insurance pays for this. Don't dilly dally. The screening is really no big deal .. I know, I've had one. My grandfather had polyps and so his grandkids were mindful to be checked. Yes, family history is important. And if you're younger than 50 and have unexplained diarrhea, blood in your stool, extreme fatigue, don't let your doctor brush you off. Three of our guests were all UNDER 50 when they were diagnosed.
