Organ Donor Day

It's easy to miss today's focus - it's national organ donor day. Anyone over age 18 can become an organ donor. But signing the back of your license isn't enough. Health experts will tell you that while an estimated 15 thousand patients in the U.S. become brain dead every year - making them eligible to be organ donors - less than a third of them have their organs donated.

The problem is, family members don't always know your wishes. Since they have to sign the final consent forms, they need to know.

As the saying in organ donations circles goes "Don't take your organs to heaven. Heaven knows we need them here. "
