Helping Kids Save Lives

This is a shameless plug for a good event.

Let me explain.
The 19 year old daughter of dear friends had a pace maker implanted this past summer. A potentially deadly heart problem was detected during a routine exam. Now that the pacemaker's in, she feels like a new person.

Friday at Sand Creek Middle School they'll host a Jump-a-Thon. It's the 5th, annual. 6th graders do the jumping. The event raises money for the American Heart Association and teaches kids about living a healthy lifestyle.
For one of the teacher's who helped get the kids ready the event really hits home: his daughter had the heart problem.

While the event is not open to the public, you can sponsor a kid. Donations can be made either to the American Heart Association or you can send them to:

Since this event was started Sand Creek students have raised over $20,000.00 for the American Heart Association and are hoping to jump to a new record this year.

very curious about what the problem was that necessitated the implant, since my own family has a genetic defect that negatively impacts the flow of potassium to the heart and my half-sister had a defibrillator and a pacemaker implanted when she was 25 years old (after two heart attacks)

do you know what caused this?
