2111 - that's the product code you need to check for if you've got PETER PAN or Great Value peanut butter in your cupboard. ( the code will be ont he lid) It's being recalled.
Con Agra, the manufacturer, says some 300 cases of Salmonella in 39 states have been linked to product with that code. It all started in August. They say they have no idea where the contamination came from, that only one plant made THAT peanut butter and they're working with officials to track it down.
Symptoms of salmonella can include diarrhea, fever, dehydration,
abdominal pain and vomiting.
ConAgra says, get rid of the peanut butter - peter pan or great value - if it's product code starts with 2111 but keep the lid so you can get a refund.
Health experts say this would be the first time in U.S. history of salmonella in peanut butter.

I tried calling the Con Agra number (i.e., 1-866-344-6970) regarding the peanut butter recall and simply got the message "Con Agra Foods" 3 times then nothing else.
I have 4 jars, bought at 2 different times (recently) at the Price Chopper, Rt 9, Latham. This shows they are being sold locally.
More info on the refund would be appreciated. Thanks for the story. We just purchased 2 jars of Peter Pan at Price Chopper. Is PC taking them back for a refund?
My family has consumed an entire jar of the Peter Pan peanut butter containing the product code 2111, and have another one on the shelf. Both were purchased at Hannaford in Delmar who pulled them all off their shelf once they got word this morning.
4 out of 6 of my family members came down with a stomach bug, or so we thought, last week and one of my children has spiked a fever again. It could be a fluke, but we're not taking any chances.
Also, the tainted peanut butter came from the Con Agra plant in Georgia and our jars came from a plant in California. Our pediatrician, Dr. Michael Looney in Delmar said to be on the lookout for severe abdominal pain, diarrhea and/or vomiting, which we're all clear of.
I too tried that number given on the news and also tried calling the phone number listed on the side of the peanut butter jars, with the number given from WNYT, I got the "Con Agra Foods" three times, then got disconnected, witht he number from the jar, I got a recording "I cannot process your call" then got disconnected.
I called WNYT and told them of the recording I got right after they announced it on the 5 PM news, but they replayed it again at 5:30 and 6.
I have "TWO" of these jars and they were purchased in Essex County in Ticonderoga and one in Washington Co, in the town of Granville. This info should have been taken when I called the station to alert those people in those counties, but no one was interested.
I have a two year old son who ate some of this Peanut Butter this morning, before we were aware of the recall and I was shocked to hear that Con Agra Foods knew of this since last August!! Why did it take SIX MONTHS to alert the rest of us who may also be digesting this posion????
